Zen Master Jeong Ji, Guiding Teacher
Zen Master Jeong Ji (Anita Feng) has practiced Zen in the lineage of Zen Master Seung Sahn since 1976. In the late ’70s she lived and studied intensively with Zen Master Seung Sahn at the Providence Zen Center. She studied under the guidance of Zen Master Ji Bong from the 1990s, receiving Inka in 2008 and transmission in 2015. In addition to serving as our guiding teacher, Jeong Ji Soen Sa works as a ceramic artist making raku Buddhas, and is an accomplished poet and author of three books. She has three children, and lives with her husband in Issaquah, WA.
Jeff Tipp, JDPSN
Jeff Tipp, JDPSN was ordained as a monk in an order of Christian mystics in 1968, entered the Dharma in 1973, met Zen Master Seung Sahn in 1978, and founded the precursor to Blue Heron Zen Community in 1980. He recieved Inka from Zen Master Ji Bong in 2006 and is a practicing Psychotherapist. He has one son, and lives with his wife in Sebastopol, CA.
Eric Nord, JDPSN
Eric Nord, JDPSN has practiced Zen in the lineage of Zen Master Seung Sahn and Zen Master Ji Bong since 1996. He has served as Head Dharma Teacher for Blue Heron Zen Community and its predecessor organization since 2002. He received Inka from Zen Master Ji Bong in 2008. Eric, PSN has two daughters, and lives with his wife in Seattle, WA.
Tom Campbell, Abbot
The Abbot of Blue Heron Zen Community is responsible for the administration and smooth functioning of the Zen center and our residential community. The abbot leads the administrative side of the Zen center, while the Guiding Teacher leads the teaching side.
Tom Campbell, Abbot has been practicing Zen since 1974 and is a longtime student in the lineage of Zen Master Seung Sahn and Zen Master Ji Bong. He has served as Abbot for the Blue Heron Zen Community since 2006. Tom has three boys, and lives in Bothell, WA with his wife Stephanie.
Zen Master Ji Bong
Zen Master Ji Bong (Robert Moore), a Zen student since 1969 and a founder of the New Haven Zen Center, began studying with Zen Master Seung Sahn in 1974 and became a Zen master in 1997. He teaches music composition and theory at the University of Southern California. Zen Master Ji Bong guides Golden Wind Zen Center in Long Beach, CA. He has a long-standing interest in the martial arts and has taught a variety of internal martial arts and chi kung in conjunction with Zen practice. He has three children and lives with his wife in Long Beach, CA.
